Herff Farm & Homestead preserves 60 acres of an 1854 agricultural settlement at the confluence of the Cibolo and Menger Creeks in Boerne.
Established in 1854 by German immigrant Ferdinand Herff, Herff Farm & Homestead was originally part of a 10,000-acre working farm and one of Boerne’s earliest European settlements. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. Today, the remaining 60 acres function as a shared campus centered around a restored historic barn, an amphitheater, and a Learning Village used for community gatherings and education.
Herff Farm & Homestead is open to the public on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM during the farmers market. During the week, the property is closed to the public for the safety of preschoolers attending the nature school.
Visitors can shop for fresh harvests and handmade goods at the Saturday farmers market. Guests can also explore the historic structures, walk through several educational gardens, and visit the Chicken Schoolyard.
